Financial Literacy Programs
Veterans and even active service members face unique challenges when entering back into civilian life. For many, it is overwhelming. For some, this can lead to homelessness. Our Financial literacy programs help educate veterans and active service members about how to best manage their finances. We tackle everything from life insurance to cryptocurrencies and how to properly invest.
Recognizing that education is the first step towards building generational wealth, we also aim to help our youth and community learn how to manage their finances and strengthen the power of their dollar. Learn more about our programs here.
Spiritual & Mindfulness Classes
In addition to the afore mentioned, we also provide multiple groups and programs to support emotional and spiritual expression. We are all different, and how we exercise our spirituality is equally an individual experience. Our goal through our Financial and Education Center is to encourage veterans and active service members, as well as the community, to explore new ways to express themselves and get in touch with their spirituality.
Our classes include gardening classes that connect you with guidance from experienced agricultural experts who teach you the ins and outs of gardening. We also have a large community garden where anyone can come and plant and harvest their own crops.
Arts & Entertainment Classes
For individuals looking to explore their artistic side, we also provide classes and programs that touch on the basics of writing, producing a film, and even participating in plays. Our goal is to give our program attendees a chance to explore all facets of themselves to better prepare them for the next stage of their lives.
Mentoring is a powerful way to reconnect with our inner strengths and to pursue healthier ways to live. At Southern CC., we provide youth mentoring, adult mentoring, and more for individuals who sign up for our programs. Giving back to those who need it, is our focus, and our mentoring is available to anyone interested.
Self Help Groups
For those interested in learning how to improve their lives with a bit of guidance from an experienced peer group, then our self-help groups are the right fit. Participants can learn everything from holistic eating to finding the right career, or how to be of more use to the community.
